On 10th May Yesterday, Elon Musk banged Meta’s WhatsApp Messenger, saying the WhatsApp messenger service can’t be trusted.
Elon Musk was replying to a Saturday tweet from the social media company’s director of engineering (Twitter X), Foad Dabiri.
Dabiri tweeted, “WhatsApp has been using the microphone in the background while I was asleep, and later I awakened at morning 6 am (and that’s just a part of the timeline!); what’s happening? Later noting that the user has a Google Pixel 7 Pro”.
However, Musk first responded that it was “Weird” but retweeted the post after 2 days. He alleged in a tweet on Twitter X that “WhatsApp can’t be trusted.”
WhatsApp did not respond to Musk directly but did answer Dibiri on Twitter X.
“In the last 24 hours, we have been in trace with a Twitter X technologist who dispatched this issue. We believe this is a bug on Android that traits info in their Privacy console and have requested Google to examine and remediate”.
Google did not instantly reply to an appeal for comments.
Far Ahead WhatsApp said, “Users have complete resistor over their mic settings. As soon as authorization is approved, WhatsApp only accesses the microphone when users call or record a voice note or video. It is protected by end-to-end encryption. Consequently, WhatsApp can’t get them”.
