A new feature of TikTok enables users to create custom AI voiceovers for their videos within the app. The new update allows users to voiceover their videos in their custom-made digital voice, letting them past the currently available generic options.
TikTok users can select the “Create Your Own AI Voice” option from the voice-over menu of videos to generate voice. By speaking into the device, users can create their own AI voice and apply it to their videos. This feature also supports the translation of voice-overs into other languages. The new feature is a part of ByteDance’s AI voice replication research and AI initiatives.
In January, ByteDance developed an AI model to replicate human voice with minimal input. The model was named a Stream Voice and can replicate any speech in real-time, this also raised concerns about its potential use in creating deepfakes and hoaxes.
As TikTok enables users to create custom AI voiceovers, other companies like Meta are also experimenting with AI voice technologies, with Meta also allowing users to create their custom AI chatbots reflecting the unique voice and style of each user.
