How to Get Leafeon in Pokemon Go: Eevee Evolution

how to get leafeon in pokemon go

How to get leafeon in Pokémon go? Pokémon Go, as with the main series of games, offers plenty of Eevee evolutions you can choose from. This allows you to transform your fluffy friend into a wide variety of evolved monsters.

As opposed to the vast majority of other Pokémon, Pokemon Go Eevee has eight evolutions, some of which are a lot easier to unlock than others.

Almost every Eevee evolution in Pokémon Go requires a different set of steps to unlock – given that it’s a walking game – so it’s a good idea to research the evolution you want before you start.

You can choose Umbreon, Espeon, Vaporeon, Leafeon, Glaceon, Flareon, Jolteon, or Sylveon. Random evolution can’t give you the Eevee evolution you want, especially for some of the above, which have hoops to jump through.

In the following section, we will explain all of the ways to evolve Eevee to get the evolutionary form you want.

How to evolve Eevee using nicknames

Giving Eevee a particular nickname before it evolves is the classic way to get it to evolve into whatever you desire. All you need to do is rename your Eevee with one of these names, and then you will be able to evolve it once you have collected the required 25 candies.

After your Eevee has evolved, you can always change it back if you dislike giving your Pokémon nicknames.

  • Vaporeon (Water-type): Rainer
  • Flareon (Fire-type): Pyro
  • Jolteon (Electric-type): Sparky
  • Umbreon (Dark-type): Tamao
  • Espeon (Psychic-type): Sakura
  • Glaceon (Ice-type): Rea
  • Leafon (Grass-type): Linnea
  • Sylveon (Fairy-type): Kira

Something important to note with this method is that it only works once for each nickname.

Once you have evolved an Eevee into each of its evolutions using this method, you will need to resort to other methods to evolve it any further. Continue reading for more information.

Evolution of Eevee into the three Vaporeons, Jolteons, and Flareons

We’ll start with the bad news; after you’ve used the nickname trick, there isn’t much more you can do to guarantee these three originals.

To get any more, you’ll have to use random evolutions by gathering Eevees and candies and crossing your fingers that when it evolves, you’ll get what you want.

Eevee’s evolution into Leafeon and Glaceon

Grass-type Leafeon and Ice-type Glaceon are the latest Evolutions to be added to Pokémon Go. In contrast to Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon, there is a secondary way of securing their forms.

Leafeon and Glaceon can only be evolved using specific items: the Glacial Lure Module for Glaceon and the Mossy Lure Module for Leafeon, both of which can be purchased for 200 coins each in-game.

Once you have the correct Lure Module, apply it to a PokéStop. If you’re still near that PokéStop and the lure is active, evolve your Eevee using the 25 candies you normally use, and you should get the form you want. If everything is working correctly, the evolution button should show the outline of the evolution you’ll get before you press it, not just a question mark.

Evolution of Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon

Although it takes a little bit more effort than simply changing your name or buying a Lure Module, Espeon and Umbreon have a secondary means of protecting their evolution.

It is probably the most involved method, but if you are committed to it, it will be worth it. For these Generation 2 evolutions, you have to put your Eevee as your buddy and have it walk with you for 10km to earn two candies (making two candies is key).

After that, you can evolve your Eevee, but the evolutions you receive will depend on the time of day shown in the game. If you evolve Eevee during the day, you’ll get Psychic-type Espeon. At night, however, you’ll find Dark-type Umbreons.

When you do this trick, make sure that Eevee is still your buddy when you evolve it, and that you have a GPS signal so the game knows what time it is right where you are. Since this doesn’t limit you to nicknames, you can do it as often as you like (if you can be bothered).

How to evolve Eevee into Sylveon

Sylveon focuses on friendship, unlike other Eeveelutions that require walking a certain distance and evolving at a specific time.

In order to get repeat Syvleons beyond the single-use method, you’ll need to get one as your buddy and then accumulate 75 hearts with it. The option would then evolve into an additional Sylveon.

When Sylveon is your buddy, you can take photos with it, play with it, feed it, and spin new PokéStops – all of the things you do to earn hearts. You can make 20 hearts per day, so, theoretically, you can evolve an Eevee into Sylveon in four days.

Here’s how you can get the Eeveelution of your dreams. There’s pretty much no more Eevee evolutions coming, but we will update this page with any new information as it becomes available.
