WhatsApp rolled out a “companion mode” feature that allows users to connect a second phone to their account. Now, the feature is available for all Android beta users with 2.23.8.2 or a newer WhatsApp version, as reported by WABetaInfo.
However, this companion mode feature was rolled out to limited beta users in November last year. Now, it has been released for all beta users. Some features may still not be accessible, like running broadcast lists and posting a status update from the linked device, as per the WABetaInfo.
The companion mode is like an extension of multi-device support and has been intended to let users link their existing WhatsApp account to another smartphone. After connecting an existing WhatsApp account to a secondary mobile phone, users can access their chats on the second device without needing an active internet connection on the main phone.
However, the abovementioned function lets you link your PC, laptop, tablet, or selected smart displays. All of your conversations and group chats are synced across the phones your link.
As per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp beta for Android v2.23.8.2 is broadly rolling out companion mode to anyone currently enrolled in the program. iPhone users can link a second Android phone as the feature is only available for Android users.
