Now Apple Watch works as a digital key for Tesla Vehicles, Sounds interesting, right? The Tesla app has brought a new update that allows Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y owners to control their Tesla with Apple Watch. This new update will allow the Apple Watch to check battery charge status, access Tesla sentry mode, remotely turns the vehicle’s climate control on or off, and even open the frunk (Tesla-speak for ‘front trunk’, the under-bonnet storage area).
Also, we are expecting more compatibility and enhanced updates in the future from Tesla because, before the Apple Watch, Tesla owners used smartphones and another third-party-provided smartwatch app to unlock their Tesla.
How to Add Tesla App on Apple Watch?
Apple Watch works as a digital key for Tesla vehicles so if you want to add the Tesla app to Apple Watch, you must ensure that the Tesla app is updated to the latest 4.39.5 version. Now, follow the below steps to add the Tesla app to your Apple Watch.
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone.
- Go to My Watch tab.
- Scroll down and tap on available apps.
- Here find Tesla and tap on it to install.
- Now, the Tesla app will take a few minutes to install on your Apple Watch.
- Once it’s installed you can also open the Tesla door by just tapping on the unlock button.
The Tesla app on the Apple watch is a part of Tesla’s Holiday update and it requires newer vehicle software to allow commands instead of a vehicle update. Moreover, it requires Apple WatchOS 11 or later to access. However, Tesla does not integrate Apple CarPlay which is available in many other cars. So, we think that Tesla owners still wait for this most waiting feature.
